Lux Series - Jennifer L. Armentrout
2:51 PMOH MY GOD.
I don't even know where to start. Book one? Two? Three? Four? Five? All of them at once?
My love for this series can't even be explained. The Lux series by Jennifer L. Armentrout has to be, hands down, the best book series I have ever read in my entire life.
Let's go slowly.
There are five books in the series, as you may have guessed from my rant. Obsidian, Onyx, Opal, Origin, Opposition. There are also in-between books, but we'll stick to the main series for today.
The series follows Cat, a seventeen-year-old high school student who just moved to West Virginia with her mom. She loves reading and gardening, and she takes care of the house when her mom is at work. So when she needs to go to the grocery store and she doesn't know her way around, she turns to her neighbors, who are a little...strange.Daemon and Dee are siblings. Their "parents" are always at work, never to be seen around the neighborhood. Also seniors in high school, Cat and Dee become good friends over the summer. Daemon, however, is a little bit reluctant. He's arrogant, mean, annoying, and strange. One minute he's nice and friendly, and the other he ignores Cat completely. It's very frustrating, but the sexual tension in this series...oh mY GOD.
When you read the entire series, you know that the first book is mostly an introduction. Daemon and Dee are aliens, and so are a lot of people in West Virginia. Cat? She's just a regular girl, but she finds herself tangled in the web of aliens, and once you go alien, you...never go back human? Does that even make sense?!
So. Many. Things. Happen.
Every single character is just so entertaining, and there isn't a single part in the book that was boring. Also, while the book is not erotic, there are a few sex scenes in there that will satisfy your appetite for a while.
This series is full of thrill, adventure, and I'm-sitting-on-the-edge-of-my-seat stuff. And for once, it's not just about the romance. I mean, yes, it is a romantic book. Daemon and Cat are perfect for each other. But the whole story around it is so captivating that you won't be able to stop reading until you reach the end of the fifth book. That's what happened to me.
Now, I do want to say one thing. The writing is not perfect. There is a certain lack of editing found in this series, which can be frustrating at times. On more than one occasion I found myself wanting to correct a few things, because some words are repetitive at times, and the syntax is not always impeccable. But if you're good at overlooking these things: Go. For. It...Please.
