How To: Organize

11:04 AM

Organization. What a dreadful word. According to Statistic Brain Research Institute, getting organized was the most popular New Year's resolution in 2015, preceded by losing weight, of course. However, not even one sixth of people managed to get organized for an entire year. Crazy, isn't it?

I am in no mean the most organized person in the world. In fact, my bedroom is most of the time a complete mess. I tend to forget where everything is and I never take the time to put little things back into the place.

But despite the fact that I can be the perfect example of a slob, my desk is impeccably clean and organized. I cannot even go to bed if a pen is misplaced or if my keyboard is not exactly aligned with my computer screen. My school papers and bills are organized in different compartments, and everything has a specific little place assigned. Sure, the best would be to organize my entire life the same way, but we have to start somewhere, don't we? Here are five tips to stay organized.

Get one of those paper holders.
...and you can even decorate it to look cute on your desk! These are very p
ractical. You can place your papers and documents in order of importance, and at the end of the day, everything goes in the same file. No more losing files, no more "my dog ate my homework," and no more papers missing a corner because your mom used it as a place mat.

And these plastic storage drawers.

You can find them at Walmart, Target, Staples...pretty much anywhere, to be honest. They can be tucked in the corner of your room, under your desk, next to your dresser. etc. They even come in different sizes, which means that some of them are small enough to sit on your desk. The different drawers allow you to organize papers, pens, knick knacks, or anything that is usually just hanging around on your desk. Get some stickers at the dollar store and make it look even cuter!

Bins are pretty useful, too.

These very small bins are the best to hold pencils, pens, or anything you'll need to reach often. Not only do they look cute and act as a decoration, but allow you to keep everything you need in one little container. Forget about having to turn your house over just to find a pen; they'll all be in the same place!

Bills need their own space!

Receipts, bills, and gift cards should have their own space. Is there anything more frustrating then losing a receipt when you absolutely need it? The dollar store carries these pouches which have a space for anything you need; Visa, Mastercard, Cash, Gift Cards, etc. Make sure you place all your bills and receipts in their as soon as you can, and make a clean up every once in a while once they're fully paid and you know you won't ever need them again.

Folders will do the rest of the job for you.

Having different folders will keep everything else organized. Make one for lists, another one for homework...you know the drill. Folders are so easy to use and are almost a synonym of organization. Don't be afraid to get as many as you need! Just don't get too many, because searching through hundreds of folders for one paper will be just as bad. Keep it simple, organized, and at your disposal.

Don't forget that each of these tips can be used in any occasion, whether it's in your bathroom, kitchen, or living room. Happy organization!
