Book or eReader? Pros and Cons!

Christmas is just around the corner, and hopefully you've done most of your Christmas shopping. However, if you're lik me, you're probably still looking for gift ideas. Today, I'll be making a list of personal pros and cons of books and ereaders, which might give you an idea of whether or not you should get one for your mom or dad. And if you're still writing your Christmas list to Santa, perhaps that is something you could add on it.

Let me start by saying that I, like most people, am in love with the scent of a freshly bought book. Nothing smells better than opening a book for the first time and inhaling the delicious scent of the paper, the ink, and the beauty of the story – the latter might be harder, but you can still give it a try.

However, considering how expensive books are and how much space they take up in a book shelf or in your bag – because if you're like me, you probably carry a book everywhere you go – an eReader might just be the answer for you. It's a lot lighter, thinner, and not only are the books a lot less expensive, most of them have an integrated light to read in the dark. Doesn't that sound fantastic?

Books
Pros:
The authenticity of the book
The scent
The feeling of turning the pages one by one
Looking at your book collection on your shelf
Highlighting your favorite parts
Using a cute bookmark that says "Don't speak to me, I'm reading."

Cons:
The heaviness of certain books
The price
The space they take
Dropping your book in the bath pretty much ruins it
Can't read in the dark
Ripped pages when overused (I tend to read books more than once...)

eReaders
Pros:
Integrated light to read in the dark
Thin, light, easy to carry around
Thousands of books stored in one device (you can never run out of books to read)
The price of books
You can change the font/font size to your preference

Cons:
The price of the ereader itself
You don't get to feel/smell the authenticity of the book
No cute book covers
Make sure it's waterproof, or else, don't bring it in the bath

Books are something that I love to look at. I could spend hours in a bookstore, looking and touching books of all genres and sizes, and I've got quite the collection myself at home. However, considering that I am still a student and that I read three to four books a week, carrying around just one book in my purse wouldn't be convenient.

That is where my eReader comes in. I'm not going to do a full review on my Kobo Aura H2O, but let's just say that it's the most practical eReader I've ever had. Lots of internal storage, waterproof exterior, and Wi-Fi access to download books anytime, anywhere.

Of course, you should always consider your own, personal factors to buying one or the other, but if you've got the budget for an eReader, in the long run you tend to save a lot more money and space.
Hope this helped you!
