Aspirin Facial Mask for Acne
6:55 PM
Before you look back at the title and make sure you've read right, I'll save you the time – yes, an aspirin mask is great for acne. Not just aspirin, though. Today, we'll be adding some lemon juice, which will help dry out the blemishes and kill the bacteria causing them.
Aspirin has similar effects to salicylic acid, which you might find in a lot of your favorite acne products. Mixed with a citric acid such as lemon juice, not only will you be treating your active breakout, you will also be preventing future blemishes from appearing. Add some honey and baking soda to your concoction and you'll be nourishing the skin so it doesn't dry out too much, as well as evening out your skin tone.
If you're asking yourself why you should be making your own aspirin mask instead of buying the drugstore brand that has salicylic acid, well, the answer is simple. You can control the ingredients, and you've got a lot more of the mask for the price you're paying. None of these bad preservatives, and none of this gibberish at the back of the bottle.
Ingredients
3 aspirin
1 lemon or one tablespoon of lemon juice
1 tablespoon of warm honey
1 teaspoon of baking soda
Directions
Crush your aspirin in a Ziploc bag and pour the powder into a small cup.
Mix the three other ingredients with the powdered aspirin with a spoon.
Apply to your clean face (preferably scrubbed), and leave on for fifteen minutes.
Repeat one a week.
