The Boy Who Sneaks in My Bedroom Window - Kirsty Mosely

I came across this book through recommendations on Goodreads. If you go and read the description, you'll probably have the urge to buy it and read it, because through the description, this novel had a lot of potential. However, you'll soon realize that it didn't have the right author. That's why I rate it 3.5/5 instead of maybe 4.5 and I'll get to why in a second.

The story follows Amber, her older brother Jake, and their best friend Liam. The two siblings have been abandoned by their abusive father and live with their mother, but she's never very present. They practically live alone and never have contact with their father, until he moves back into town with his new family.

From the moment that Amber started being abused by her father, Liam would climb every night in her bedroom window and sleep next to her until morning. One day, Liam admits being in love with Amber, and they start dating in secret.

However, Jake and Amber's father comes back into town with a family of his own, a seventeen-year-old boy and a younger child. Amber has no intention of befriending the her step-brother even though he does everything in his power to be close to her and Jake, until Jake finds out that his dad is still just as abusive with his new family. Together, they manage to get the man arrested.

So, it doesn't look so bad so far, does it? Because I really loved the story. Amber was a little bit annoying, but in general, the characters were great and the story line was captivating. The problem is the writing. How can a book this badly written get published? The grammar, the punctuation... Everything was bad. It's as if the book hasn't even been revised! And being a grammar nazi, every single page annoyed me to the point that I wanted to drop the book and read a new one.

If you don't care about the grammar and you like young adult romance with a bit of hot stuff, then this book is for you, but if you're like me, you'll probably end up with a pen, correcting away all the mistakes. This is at your discretion.
