DIY Bath Bombs

5:36 PM

If you love taking baths, you've probably bought a Lush bath bomb at least once in your life. We all love the colors, the fizzing, the scent, and pretty much everything a bath bomb does. But if you're familiar with them, you're probably also aware how costly they can be. A bath bomb can range from $6.95 to $8.95 here in Canada. Therefore, they're probably not your everyday bath companion.

I came across DIY bath bomb videos on YouTube completely randomly a couple of weeks ago. To be honest, I didn't even know you could make your own, and I was surprised to see how easy it was. I have since then tried a couple of recipes, and today I will be sharing my favorite; the one I find that fizzes and colors your bath the most.

Click on the ingredients to find out where I purchased them. It might make your life a lot easier if you don't already own some of them.

Ingredients

1 cup of baking soda
1/2 cup of citric acid
1/2 cup of corn starch
1/2 of fine bath salts
1 teaspoon of coconut oil
A few drops of food coloring
A few drops of essential oil
1 teaspoon of water
Molds (either round or any other shape you have. I used muffin tins)

Directions

In a large bowl, combine the baking soda, citric acid, corn starch, and fine bath salts. Make sure there aren't any clumps.
In a smaller bowl or a cup, mix the water, oil of your choice, essential oil, and food coloring together.
As you whisk the dry ingredients, carefully and very slowly pour in the wet ingredients. If it stars fizzing, you're doing it too fast.
Keep whisking, or knead the mixture with your fingers, making sure that there still aren't any clumps and that the food coloring is spreading evenly.
Once it feels like wet sand, pack some of the powder in the mold you've picked. Make sure it is very well packed so it sticks and dries together.
Wait 10 minutes and carefully remove from the mold.
Leave to dry on the counter for a whole day before using.
Enjoy!
