Turmeric Face Mask

Turmeric, also known as Curcuma, is a popular spice that grows in South Asia used by the Indian community. Not only does it taste good if added to certain dishes, it also has hundreds of good properties for the skin. It is mainly known for its brightening effect on the skin, as it tends to be used to even out skin tone, reduce redness, and lighten hyper-pigmentation, and a lot of companies are now using it in their products (Andalou, Kiehl's, etc.).

However, turmeric contains great anti-bacterial, anti-inflammatory, and anti-oxidant agents, which means that it will help heal acne, cuts, or scratches. It can also be used as an exfoliating scrub, which will help reduce visible aging signs and acne scars, as well as removing dead cells. As a mask, turmeric can help control excess oil without stripping the skin, and it also happens to slow down the process of hair growth. Use a little bit with your moisturizer or some kind of oil, and it will help nourish your dry skin. Pregnant or just gave birth? Mixing turmeric with your body butter will help prevent and get rid of stretch marks.

Turmeric is basically good for anything, and the world would not be able to live without it. I tend to have dry, acne prone skin, visible scarring and redness, and blackheads, so today I'm going to share my favorite way to use turmeric!

Ingredients

2 tablespoons of turmeric
1/2 teaspoon of honey
1/2 teaspoon of jojoba oil
1/2 teaspoon of milk
A few drops of lemon juice

Directions

Mix turmeric, honey, jojoba oil, and milk together.
Add lemon juice until the mixture reaches a good consistency.
If the mixture is too liquid, add a little bit of turmeric to make it thick again.
Apply thickly on freshly washed skin and let set for fifteen minutes.
Remove with a tissue or cleansing wipe first, because it might stain towels.
Since off completely and pat dry!

Organic honey has healing properties, which makes it the best ingredient to use on acne prone skin. It won't clog pores or cause blackheads. The same thing goes for jojoba oil, as it is the only oil that mimics the natural oil on your skin. Therefore, it can help reduce excess oil on oily skin, and it will also help reduce blackheads and acne at the same time. Milk conditions the epidermis for softer, brighter skin. Finally, the lemon juice has great brightening benefits, which will help reduce redness and discoloration.

Use this mask up to three times a week, preferably at night. Your skin should improve after the first use! And if you decide to make it in bulk, store it in an airtight container for up to two weeks.
